Established in 1868, the University of California at Berkeley's College of Engineering offers such programs as bioengineering, industrial engineering and environmental engineering. Graduates have helped build the Golden Gate Bridge and were responsible for the creation of UNIX, a computer operations system that eventually led to the invention of the Internet.
