Located in Hollywood, California, the Musicians Institute puts students right in the action. The audio engineering program equips students with the necessary skills for success in a music production career. Students get 24-hour lab access to hone their craft, and get to take advantage of small class sizes with personalized attention from instructors. The Musicians Institute offers two degree options: a bachelor's in music performance with a minor in audio production or an associate's degree that combines 30 units of audio production with 60 units of training on guitar, bass, keyboards, percussion or voice. They also have three different certifications in audio engineering, so students can find what option fits them the best.

Columbia College Chicago offers several music production classes for aspiring music producers and engineers in the Midwest. Located in the Arts, Entertainment and Media Management department, these classes give students hands-on experience producing music, as well as in-depth instruction on the theory and skills necessary to be a successful music producer or engineer. Classes include music theory for recording, introduction to MIDI, producing recorded music, and the art & business of recording. They offer a bachelor's degree as well as a minor option.
