Production Engineering Colleges

Production engineering is a term used to describe industrial engineering or music production and engineering. Colleges that provide production engineering programs teach students the techniques and skills necessary to work behind the scenes with music and in industry. Students learn about technical communication and management skills as well as programming, producing and managing music.
  1. Washtenaw Community College

    • Washtenaw Community College has a music production/engineering program that awards a certificate of completion. This program teaches students the skills necessary to begin a career in music production and engineering, such as audio recording, sound reinforcement and computer applications. Students must complete seven courses covering music sequencing and programming, computer applications in music, sound reinforcement for the stage, self-management for working artists, music producing and arranging, and audio recording technology.

    Berklee College of Music

    • Berklee College of Music's department of music production and engineering offers several options for students to earn an online certificate at the master's, professional and specialist levels. Certificate options include music production and technology, music business and technology, studio production, electronic music production and sound design, music creation using Reason and music production and audio mastering. Other options include Pro Tools, sound design using Reason and music production using Ableton Live.

    University at Buffalo

    • The University at Buffalo has a master of engineering degree program in production management that requires students to complete six courses. This program is designed to teach students management skills as they pertain to the industrial engineer. Course requirements include case studies in engineering management, quality assurance, technical communication, production planning and control, and principles of engineering management.
