Designed to educate its students on modern music production techniques while using the latest recording technologies available, New York City's Institute of Audio Research features a business of music course. Music production students are advised to take this course before taking the music production class. Students should learn how the music business works in the real world before learning music production technical skills. The digital music production program offers students hands-on training with digital recording equipment such as analog-to-digital conversion sound boards, digital audio workstations and computers equipped with industry-standard DAW software. This type of audio recording software allows students to mix digital musical soundtracks together under the supervision of the instructors.
