    • Musicians Institute opened in the 1970s when teaching music as a career wasn't as widespread as it is today. It is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). Students enrolled in the Musicians Institute can obtain a bachelor's degree or associate's degree in music performance. They can also obtain certification in independent artistry, sound engineering, guitar craft, music business, music video, film and television production. The production certificate requires six months of schooling specializing in the making of music videos. For a final project, students produce their own music video.

    California College of Music

    • The faculty members at California College of Music are professionals in the music business--musicians and studio engineers. The California College of Music offers programs in music performance, production, engineering, artist development and an intensive English language program for non-native speakers. Also offered are special courses in turntable technology, private music lessons and demo recording services. Students enrolled in the engineering and music production program are required to take courses such as history of recording, mixing, sampling, the science of sound, microphone techniques, foundations of MIDI programming and the basics of turntable technology.

    Ex'pression

    • Ex'pression College for Digital Arts is dedicated to accelerated learning. The bachelor's degree programs at Ex'pression are designed for completion in two and a half years as opposed to four years like most colleges require. Students interested in attending Ex'pression can choose from four areas of study including sound arts, animation and visual effects, motion graphic design and game and art design. The sound arts program prepares its students for careers in audio engineering and music production. Some curriculum requirements are music theory, recording, computer music production, digital audio workstations, business of media and studio etiquette and psychology.
