If you already have a bachelor's or are simply pursuing training in the contemporary music field, many colleges and institutions offer certificate programs. Certificate programs are much shorter and more specialized than a four-year degree. The California College of Music offers an intensive six-month or one-year program designed for professionals. Some private schools offer a concentration in contemporary Christian music. The courses are considerably different from secular programs, generally requiring several hours of worship or religious study. Check the credentials of the school, especially for certificate programs. Some universities may not be accredited or be accredited minimally.
