    University of Florida College of Dentistry

    • Located in Gainesville, the University of Florida offers 16 different degree and certificate programs in dental medicine. Ranked fourth in the U.S. in terms of NIH funding received, UF's dental program operates 16 clinics in the state of Florida. UF Students on average scored five points higher than the national average on the 2009 Board Dental Examination, which indicates highly selective admissions for its graduate programs.

    Miami-Dade College

    • Offering a two-year Associate in Science degree, Miami-Dade College offers rigorous dental hygienist training. Students learn to clean teeth, take dental X-Rays, and instruct patients in proper preventative dental care (such as promoting proper dental hygiene, diet, and a non-smoking lifestyle). The college also requires students to take general education courses, to ensure students receive a liberal arts education in addition to vocational training.

    Barry University

    • The Catholic, private Barry University features a Pre-Dental program for college undergraduates. Barry Pre-Dental majors study dentistry from a liberal arts perspective in preparation for graduate dental study. Additionally, students have opportunities to conduct research with faculty members. Graduates often attend dental school at some of America's top universities, such as Northwestern University, New York University, and the Georgetown School of Dentistry. The college is located outside of Miami in the town of Miami Shores, Florida.

    Nova Southeastern University

    • Located in Fort Lauderdale-Davie, Nova Southeastern offers many dental programs, including associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in oral surgery, orthodontics, general dentistry, and pediatric dentistry, among other programs. The school emphasizes professionalism and competence, and recently added an "Associate Match Program" to its website. This new feature allows Nova Southeastern grads to network with practicing dentists.
