Milwaukee's Marquette University offers the only four year dental program in the state of Wisconsin. Their D.D.S. (Doctor of Dental Science) requires at least 90 liberal arts credits for admittance, including chemistry, physics, biology and biochemistry. Prospective students must also pass the D.A.T. (Dental Admission Test). The school works on a comprehensive patient care system (CPCS) model, which focuses on the total needs of a patient rather than a single clinical procedure at a time. The first two years of the program concentrate on dental anatomy, oral medicine and introductory endodontics. The final two years deal with clinical practice, advanced prosthodontics and maxillofacial surgery. The School of Dentistry has advanced degree programs for both M.S. (Master of Science) and Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) dental degrees. Students can begin work on these degrees while still enrolled in the D.D.S. program.
