Chicago Dental Schools

Dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants work hard every day to give bright smiles to their patients. They exam teeth and gums, diagnose aliments of the mouth and even perform cosmetic procedures. According to the "Occupational Outlook Handbook," published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, job prospects in the dental field are growing. If you are interested in a dental career, the city of Chicago has several dental schools to choose from.
  1. University of Illinois, Chicago

    • The University of Illinois, Chicago (UIC) is the only school of denistry left in Chicago after Northwestern University closed it's program. The specialties that (UIC) offers are Endodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, Pediatrics, Periodontics and Prosthodontics. You must have graduated from an accredited university and have taken at least 27 credit hours of science to be considered for admission. A good score on the The Dental Admission Test (DAT) is also required.

    Kennedy-King College

    • Kennedy-King College is one of Chicago's city community colleges. While it does not offer a degree in dentistry, it has a dental-hygiene program. This accredited program teaches students how to clean teeth and gums, take X-rays and educate patients in good oral hygiene.

    Illinois School of Health Careers

    • The Illinois School of Health Careers offers a dental assisting certificate at their Chicago location. In this program, students learn how to take X-rays and how to sterilize dental equipment.
