The University of Arkansas' Department of Dental Hygiene in Little Rock offers two- and four-year programs. The program also offers remote classes at Arkansas State University Mountain Home, where students attend classes via interactive video. These students may enroll only in the four-year program. Although both the two-year associate's degree and the four-year bachelor's degree qualify students to work as dental hygienists, the four-year degree gives more in-depth knowledge. The University of Arkansas' Little Rock program admits 34 students a year; the Mountain Home program admits five.
