    • Philadelphia Community College offers a 69-credit-hour associate in applied science (AAS) degree in respiratory care technology. During the 22-consecutive-month program, students learn diagnostic procedures, such as arterial blood gas analysis and pulmonary function studies. They also learn respiratory therapies, such as the use and administration of oxygen and other medical gases and the aerosolization of drugs for inhalation.

      The Committee for Accreditation of Respiratory Care-accredited program is taught through classroom and laboratory components and clinical experience at local hospitals and health care facilities. Graduates are eligible to sit for the National Board for Respiratory Care’s credentialing examinations and to obtain Pennsylvania state professional licensing in respiratory therapy. Students must receive passing grades in all clinical lab experiences and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 in order to stay in the program.

    • Delaware County Community College (DCCC) is located 27 minutes from Philadelphia in Media, Pennsylvania. DCCC offers an AAS in respiratory therapy through a partnership with Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Through a combination of classroom teaching, laboratory exercises and clinical experience, students in the program learn to administer respiratory therapies, perform diagnostic testing, and maintain respiratory technology and equipment. Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA throughout the 80-credit, seven-consecutive-semester program, which is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care. Graduates are eligible to sit for both the National Board for Respiratory Care’s credentialing and Pennsylvania’s state professional licensing examinations.

    • Camden County College (CCC) is located 24 minutes from Philadelphia in Stratford, New Jersey. CCC offers an AAS in respiratory therapy through a partnership with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Health Related Professions. Students learn diagnostic, therapeutic and technological aspects of respiratory care through traditional lecture and laboratory classes and participation in clinical experience rotations. CCC says its program prepares students for professional respiratory therapy positions in hospitals, home care, equipment marketing and education. Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA to remain in the 69-credit Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation-accredited program.
