The need for detailed documentation of court proceedings is increasing in importance, leading to this drastic rise in the number of available jobs.     Bryan College of Court Reporting

    • Prospective court reporters attending Bryan College of Court Reporting have the opportunity to choose between the Sacramento, Los Angeles or online campuses, providing an opportunity to complete the program at a location of convenience. Students receive extensive hands-on training in a variety of courses that will prepare for a career in court reporting. Classes include speedbuilding, legal terminology, court procedures and medical terminology. Placement with internship programs is also available for interested students.

    Cypress College

    • The Court Reporting Program offered by Cypress College allows students to combine campus courses with distance learning to complete their degree at a pace that works best for them. The program requires just over two years to complete and is designed to prepare students for employment upon graduation. Training is available in courtroom procedures, medical and legal terminology, the legal environment of business, speedbuilding and advanced grammar and usage. In addition, general education courses are required.

      As of 2010, tuition costs for Cypress College are $190 per credit hour. Financial aid opportunities are available for students who qualify.
