Respiratory Therapy Schools in Philadelphia

Respiratory therapy is a form of treatment for those suffering from breathing or other respiratory illnesses. Respiratory therapists also provide aid to heart attack and stroke victims. Because of the responsibility these therapists have to save and maintain lives, training is essential. This training often includes knowledge of oxygen and chest physiotherapy as well as application procedures. In large cities such as Philadelphia, respiratory programs are offered at community colleges, and technical schools as well as through hospital programs.

The school also provides practical training in the form of clinical trials at several Philadelphia hospitals and medical schools. To be eligible for the program, students must have maintained a minimum of a C grade or better in high school biology and algebra. Plus, students may be required to take a pre-admissions test in addition to undergoing a scheduled interview with the program director.
