Community Colleges That Offer Power Lineman Certification

A power lineman is responsible for installing high-voltage power lines and linking them with utility grids so that consumers and business owners have power. Power lineman must be able to work at heights and sometimes in very poor weather conditions. Because of the inherent dangers associated with the job, certification is necessary to work as a power lineman.
  1. Eastern Region

    • There are many community colleges in the Eastern Region of the United States that offer lineman certification, including: the Brookdale Community College located in Lincroft, New Jersey; the North Shore Community College located in Danvers, Massachusetts; the Middlesex Community College with locations in both Lowell and Bedford, Massachusetts; the Quinsigamond Community College located in Worcester, Massachusetts; the Reading Area Community College located in Reading, Pennsylvania; and the Raritan Valley Community College located in North Branch, New Jersey.

    Southern Region

    • Individuals looking to earn certification as a power lineman in the southern region of the United States might consider one of the following community colleges: the Somerset Community College located in Somerset, Kentucky; the Lake-Sumter Community College in Sumterville, Florida; the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in Perkinston, Mississippi; or the Nash Community College of Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
