Applicants to the Pharmacy Technician program at North Seattle Community College (NSCC) must have a high school diploma or equivalent, complete assessment testing and provide transcripts showing college level English and math proficiency. Prospective students are placed on an approval list and must also verify that their past conduct will not prevent them from obtaining a license from the Washington Department of Health. NSCC's program consists of three quarters of coursework such as Pharmacy Law and Pharmacology and an externship totaling 432 hours at a clinic. Approximately 50 credit hours are required and students are then required to take a national exam before obtaining a certificate and becoming eligible for a license from the Washington State Board of Pharmacy. NSCC is located near Interstate 5 in the Northgate area of Seattle.

Austin Community College (ACC) describes successful Pharmacy Technician students as those who enjoy working with patients, have an aptitude for math and an interest in science and health care. Enrollment requirements for ACC's program include a high school diploma, minimum scores on a COMPASS exam, immunizations, criminal background checks and a completed application. Pharmacy Technician students complete two semesters of coursework and clinical experiences to obtain a certificate of completion which qualifies them to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification exam. ACC students must register with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy and will become licensed once all program requirements and additional background checks are successfully completed. ACC's Eastview campus is located in east Austin near Boggy Creek and Rosewood parks.

Located in Maryland on a 230-acre campus, Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) offers a 33 credit Pharmacy Technician certificate program. Orientation seminars provide prospective students with an overview of the program and potential career opportunities. Required courses at AACC for Pharmacy Technicians include Pharmaceutical Calculations, Pharmacy Law and Ethics and Medical Terminology. A five-week term also requires a professional development seminar and a five-credit pharmacy practicum for clinical experience. Students in AACC's program must register with the Maryland Board of Pharmacy and graduates of the program are eligible to take the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam. AACC is located seven miles north of Annapolis near Chesapeake Bay in Anne Arundel County.
