There are a few pharmacy colleges that are nationally ranked outside of the traditional university setting. One of these colleges is the South Carolina College of Pharmacy. The school was recently ranked among the top 50 pharmacy schools by "U.S. News & World Report."
Aside from the traditional PharmD degree, other program offerings include a research oriented Ph.D. and a master's degree in pharmaceutical sciences. A number of joint-degree programs are also offered, including a joint MBA program. The college emphasizes several areas of research, including cancer therapeutics and etiology, pharmacology and pharmaceutics, cell deterioration and regeneration and medical chemistry.

Another nationally ranked non-university pharmaceutical college is the Albany College of Pharmacy. This school is currently ranked among the top 100 pharmacy schools in the country by "U.S. News & World Report." The college offers a range of programs, including the traditional PharmD. Students have the opportunity to pursue an undergraduate education through the pre-pharmacy program. Other baccalaureate degree offerings include pharmaceutical sciences. Additional master's degrees programs include pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacy administration and outcomes in health research. Students can also pursue a joint degree within the PharmD program to obtain an MBA.

The St. Louis College of Pharmacy was also recently ranked by "U.S. News & World Report" as among the top 100 pharmacy schools in the country. The school offers a pre-pharmacy undergraduate program; this six-year program is designed to prepare students to pass a state licensure exam. Despite its lack of a Ph.D. program, the school does engage in ongoing research in the areas of aging and medication safety.
