Colleges With Pharmacy Programs

The United States Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that employment for pharmacists is expected to grow 17 percent through 2018. Employment for pharmacy technicians and aides is projected to grow 25 percent through 2018. There are colleges throughout the U.S. offering pharmacy programs for prospective health care professionals.
  1. Rasmussen College

    • Founded in 1900, Rasmussen College reports that as of 2010, 97 percent of their graduates were employed. Located in Chicago, Rasmussen College offers an associate degree for pharmacy technicians. Coursework in the program includes medical terminology, human diseases and therapies, measuring and weighing, pathology, medical law and ethics, medication preparation and computer systems. Graduates of the program can work at hospitals, clinics and pharmacies. Financial aid is available through scholarships, grants and student loans. Rasmussen College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

    University of the Sciences

    • The University of the Sciences in Philadelphia's College of Pharmacy offers students bachelor's degrees in pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmaceutical sciences. The school also offers a master's degree in pharmacy administration and a doctorate in pharmacy. Pharmaceutical chemistry covers chemistry, math, biology, principles of organic chemistry, physics and instrumental analysis. The pharmaceutical sciences program covers social sciences, human structure, organic chemistry, math, controlled dosage forms, research and medical law. Upon graduation, students can work at companies that create and test prescription drugs and cosmetics. Approximately 2,600 students were enrolled at the school as of 2010. Financial aid is available through scholarships, grants and student loans. Founded in 1821, the University of Sciences in Philadelphia is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

    Ashworth College

    • Ashworth College, in Norcross, Georgia, offers a career diploma for pharmacy technicians. Drug side effects, dosage calculations, weighing and measuring techniques, sterilization, blending ingredients, infusions and solutions are areas covered in the training program. Upon graduation, students are qualified to work as entry level pharmacy techs. Financial aid is available through grants and student loans. Ashworth College is accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council.
