Minnesota Colleges With Certificate Programs

Achieving higher education is an important step in career advancement. In addition to getting a bachelor's or master's degree, another way to learn about a specific field is to take a certificate program. Certificates offer students knowledge about a particular skill or trade, and are typically completed in a much shorter time than a traditional degree. They can help someone without a degree or help to hone the skills of someone already in the field.

    University of Minnesota, Twin Cities

    • The University of Minnesota offers more than 35 certificate programs at its Twin Cities campus. The programs are offered through the university's College of Continuing Education, and students can achieve a certificate at the undergraduate and graduate level. All certificates fall into one of four categories: business and management, human resources, health and human services, or science and technology. In addition to offering academic certificates that follow the university's academic calendar, students also may achieve a professional development certificate. Academic certificates earn students credit that can be transferred to a degree program and are taught by University of Minnesota professors. Academic certificates include accounting and addiction studies. Professional development certificates can be earned in one to six months, and focus on teaching a specific skill, like business writing or supervision.
