California State Polytechnic University offers both a bachelor's degree in animal health sciences as well as a master's degree, allowing students to pursue a veterinary license. These majors are offered through the College of Agriculture within the university and are accredited through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The University of California in Davis offers two degrees in veterinary medicine, a master's of preventative veterinary medicine and a doctorate of veterinary medicine. The program offered for the doctorate in veterinary medicine is highly selective, and it typically does not accept out-of-state students. Students studying veterinary medicine are offered hands-on training experiences with large and small animals. Students are also given access to placement services while enrolled in the program and after graduation. There are financial aid options available to students, including grants, scholarships and loans.
