The Midwest College of Cosmetology in Normal, Illinois, offers a certificate program in cosmetology. The program is full-time only, requiring 1,500 hours of practical and theoretical training. The program takes a year to complete. Students at Midwest College of Cosmetology don't just learn the art of hairdressing. Courses also provide a basic knowledge of professional ethics and small business management. Students may take additional classes free of charge through Lincoln College at Normal to earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in cosmetology. Upon graduation from either program, alumni will be fully prepared to take their Illinois licensing exam.

Vogue Beauty College offers cosmetology programs at several locations in Texas (including two each in Austin and San Antonio) as well as one location in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The cosmetology program at Vogue includes 1,500 hours of training in areas such as perms, coloring, salon management, scalp treatments, cutting and styling. The cosmetology program is a three-tiered system where students begin working on mannequins and volunteers, progress to paying customers at the college and then mastering the trade, as well as preparing for the state licensing exam. Students at Vogue can take classes during the day or evening and part- and full-time schedules are available.

La'James College in Mason City, Iowa, provides career training for aspiring cosmetologists. Students at La'James pursue a diploma in cosmetology that requires 2,100 hours of classroom training and hands-on experience. Select students may enroll in the program early, taking an additional 280 hours of training during the summer months. The program also allows high school students to enroll on a part-time basis, moving into a full-time program upon completion of their studies. Graduates will be prepared to take their licensing exam from the State of Iowa.

Missouri College of Cosmetology trains students in more than just hair cutting. Students in this program also learn about the nails and face. The program at MCC requires 1,500 hours of professional training. Completing the program requires nine months when classes are taken full-time and 15 months when taken on a part-time basis. MCC assists students with their job search and finding housing while attending classes.
