College of the Siskiyous, with campuses in Yreka and Weed, offers American Red Cross CPR/AED certification. The College of the Redwoods in Eureka offers several Red Cross certification programs within their community education program, including CPR and first aid. Shasta College offers CR for professional rescuers. Lassen College trains students in American Red Cross CPR and standard first aid. Mendocino College offers certification in emergency response, which includes CPR, first responder and emergency first aid.
This area includes the large cities of San Francisco, Sacramento, San Mateo, Berkeley, Santa Rosa and Lake Tahoe. There are more than 50 community colleges in central California. Most of them offer some type of American Red Cross certification. One of the more well-known schools is the City College of San Francisco, which offers CPR/AED training, and even a Red Cross Club for students interested in promoting Red Cross. Some of the largest community colleges in this area are Santa Monica College, Los Angeles City College and Orange Coast College. Santa Monica College offers CPR and AED, and a student-run Red Cross group. Los Angeles City College offers first aid and CPR through its physical education department, and also includes Red Cross training as part of its nursing program. Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa offers certification in first aid and CPR, and the courses can be taken for credit as well as recognized certification.

From this list, students should choose the college closest to them that offers the Red Cross certification that interests them. The American Red Cross also offers training programs that aren't based at community colleges.
