Folson Lake College has locations in Sacramento and Folsom in addition to Placerville. Its main campus in Folsom is about 24 miles west of Placerville. This technical and career-focused community college offers 125 certificate and associate degree programs in a range of subject areas, including justice administration, agriculture and horticulture, art and design, automotive technology, science, business, communications, computer science and information systems, construction and welding technology, education, drama, engineering, environmental studies, fashion design and merchandising, liberal arts, social science, music, nursing, photography and real estate. It is a comprehensive community college that describes itself as “open access.” Associate's degrees in art and science, certificates of achievement and certificates of completion are available in a range of subjects.
