Hawaiian Community Colleges

The University of Hawaii operates seven community colleges across the islands and offers distance learning options. The University also maintains outreach and education centers throughout the state. Applications are accepted in person, by mail and online though individual college admissions requirements vary. In addition, Hawaii Tokai International College offers two year degrees in Hawaii.
  1. Hawaii

    • Hawaii Community College on the Big Island offers options for career and technical professions along with transfer courses. There are satellite sites across the island and in 2011 officials were planning to expand the facilities in Hilo and Kona.

    Honolulu

    • Honolulu Community College offers a two-year liberal arts degree that transfers to four-year programs along with certificates and programs in transportation, information technology, education, communication, construction and public service. Off-campus sites include facilities for aeronautic, marine, automotive and heavy equipment training.

    Kapiolani

    • Kapiolani Community College is near Waikiki on the slopes of Diamond Head. Kapiolani offers programs in culinary arts, health sciences, cross-cultural writing and critical thinking, information technology, service-learning and integrated international education, liberal arts, hospitality, new media arts and business.

    Kauai

    • Kauai Community College is the only college on the island of Kauai. It features programs in business, technology, hospitality, health, early childhood education and liberal arts. There is also a continuing education program for lifelong learners and members of the business community who wish to pursue noncredit courses or customized training.

    Leeward

    • Leeward Community College can be found in Pearl City on Oahu's west side. The curriculum offered includes programs in business, education, digital media, computer networking, culinary arts, television production, engineering, visual and performing arts, and various sciences.

    Maui

    • The University of Hawaii Maui College offers classes for students on Maui, Molokai and Lanai. It's also pioneered the distance learning options for the entire university system. The community college programs include accounting, agricultural science, health care, business, automotive technology, culinary arts, computer engineering, fashion technology, human services, hospitality and sustainable construction.

    Windward

    • Windward Community College on Oahu's east coast is the latest addition to the university system. Concentrations include business, art, Hawaiian studies, psycho-social development, plant biotechnology, bio-resource management, plant landscaping and agricultural technology.

    Hawaii Tokai International College

    • Hawaii Tokai International College in Honolulu is the only American campus of the Tokai University Educational System of Japan and is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Two programs are offered at Hawaii Tokai International, a liberal arts A.A. degree and a college preparatory program aimed at non-English speaking, international students.
