Locate a higher-education facility that offers online editing degrees. In some instances this is going to be a "writing" degree. You can start by looking at your local colleges to see if they offer online classes. Local universities are generally less expensive than out-of-state schools. If you can't find any near you, use the link in "Resources" for an available school.
Enroll in the online college. If the degree is offered completely online you typically are required to just fill out enrollment paperwork, submit a transcript and possibly write an admittance essay, depending on the school in which you are enrolling.
Choose your online classes. Many schools enroll you in the first set of classes to start you off on the right foot. For the editing degree you are given different writing class options, all of which help you reach your online degree. Make sure to take classes that interest you and the kind of editing you want. For example, there may be classes in fiction-based editing, while others rely more on fact-checking or medical-based editing.
Complete all the required courses and receive your editing degree from the online program.
