Community Colleges in Michigan That Offer Surgical Technologist Degrees

Surgical technologists are part of an operating room team, along with surgeons, nurses and anesthesiologists. They set up the room before surgery and make sure that all of the proper equipment is present and sterile. Training programs last from nine months to two years for this growing field. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that there were 91,500 surgical technologists in the United States in 2008, a number that is expected to grow by 25 percent by 2018.
