Community Colleges Near Rockport, Texas

Three affordable public community colleges are within 50 miles of Rockport on the Texas Gulf Coast. The closest community college is Del Mar College, located about 25 miles away in Corpus Christi. The Victoria College in Victoria and Coastal Bend College in Beeville are each about 48 miles from Rockport.

    • Founded in 1935, Del Mar College has programs granting associate degrees, enhanced skill certificates, certificates of achievement and marketable skills awards in more than 50 majors and more than 140 career fields. Del Mar serves about 22,000 credit and noncredit learners annually and employs more than 300 full-time faculty members, 90 percent of whom have master's degrees or higher. Classes are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The school also offers honors programs, a Senior Citizens Education program, intramural sports programs and many exhibits and performances.     The Victoria College

    • Established in 1925, the Victoria College (VC) grants associate degrees and certificates in more than 40 programs of study and offers more than 120 continuing education courses. The primary academic divisions at VC are allied health; career and technical education and public service; humanities and fine arts; science, mathematics and physical education; and social and behavioral sciences. The College Board reports that Victoria College has 4,060 degree-seeking undergraduates; the most popular majors for associate degrees are liberal arts, health professions, business/marketing, computer and information sciences, and engineering technologies.     • Opened in 1967, Coastal Bend College (CBC) grants associate degrees and certificates of achievement. According to the College Board, CBC has 3,450 undergraduate students. Academic programs at CBC include college preparatory studies, kinesiology and health science, language, mathematics and physics, science, social sciences and humanities, and fine arts. Workforce education programs cover business technology, dental hygiene, human services, industrial technology, professional and public services, radiologic technology and nursing.
