The main campus at El Centro College is in downtown Dallas, and the school has three other campuses around the city. Founded in 1965, the original school in the Dallas Community College District provides a full set of liberal arts classes to give credit and prepare students to move on to a four-year school. The school is also a provider of career development and adult education courses to the Dallas community, including an adult literacy program. El Centro also offers online education courses to broaden its reach to those students unable to come to the classroom.

Cedar Valley Community College is in southern Dallas County, just outside the city. Its 4,000 students have access to associate degree programs in academic disciplines including math, music, and the arts. The school also offers technical education in the fields of automotive technology, computer graphics, veterinary medicine, and commercial music recording technology. Cedar Valley also provides non-credit continuing education opportunities in languages, music, computer technology, and real estate. The school opened in 1977, and it features a walking path around a 17-acre lake.

Located in suburban southwest Dallas, Mountain View College offers transfer-credit freshman and sophomore undergraduate courses in arts and sciences, in addition to associate degree programs in areas that include accounting, nursing, and aviation technology. The college also has degree or certificate programs in technical areas to prepare students to head directly into the work force. Mountain View also offers language and adult literacy programs, along with partnerships in economic and community development.

Richland College is located on the northeastern edge of Dallas, and serves 15,000 undergraduate students and more than 5,000 continuing education students annually. The school has students speaking 90 different languages among its student body. Richland offers a number of academic enrichment programs and degree programs in business, engineering, technology, math, and health professions. It also provides teacher-credentialing programs.
