Community Colleges in Arlington, Texas

Arlington, Texas, a suburb of Dallas/Fort Worth, is home to the Texas Rangers baseball team and Dallas Cowboys football team. Even though the city's population totals nearly 400,000, and the state has a large university system, you won't find many options here if you are looking for a community college.

    • Arlington is located halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth. You can reach either location within about 30 minutes and get to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in half that time. Arlington is a 3-hour drive from Austin and Houston. It is also only about 200 miles from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Shreveport, Louisiana.

    Arlington Community College

    • Arlington Community College was founded in 1932 as Colton Baptist Junior College. It is a private school focusing on business and technology programs, including Business Administration, Accounting, Information Technology, Healthcare Administration and Commerce. The school offers associate's, bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees, and offers a distance learning program for those wishing to complete degrees online. Arlington Community College has an open enrollment policy so all students who have a high school diploma, or equivalent, are welcome.

    Tarrant County College

    • Tarrant County College has a total of five campuses - Northeast, Northwest, South, Southeast and Trinity River -- within Tarrant County. The Southeast Campus is located in Arlington. This school focuses on programs in Hospitality Management and Dietetics. It also offers degrees and certificates in arts, teaching, applied science, as well as basic core curriculum programs for those wishing to transfer to a 4-year college. In addition, Tarrant County College has an Early High School Enrollment program which allows high school students to take classes and simultaneously receive high school and college credit.

    • While you won't find a lot of options if you are looking for a community college in Arlington, the state of Texas has over 75 community college campuses. Within a short commute you will find a selection of schools that are within the Dallas County Community College District - Brookhaven College, Cedar Valley College, Eastfield College, El Centro College, Mountain View College, North Lake College and Richland College. Another option is to consider taking an online course from one of the Texas community colleges outside of Arlington.
