Austin Community College's campuses include a site near Kerrville, in the Gillespie County town of Fredericksburg. With more than 200 associate-degree, certificate, adult-education and continuing-education programs, ACC is a popular choice among local students. Distance-learning courses are offered at the Fredericksburg site, giving students access to the courses offered at the Austin campuses. San Antonio College offers college courses and pre-professional classes at its Greater Kerrville Center. As part of the Alamo Colleges system of schools, SAC began in 1925 as University Junior College. Today, the college is the largest single-campus community college in Texas and one of the largest in the country. This two-year school has dozens of departments, ranging from allied health to graphic arts, and even theater arts. The Kerrville center features core college academic courses, occupational training and summer youth programs. In addition to financial aid and scholarship opportunities for qualified students, SAC has a career-services department to assist students with job-readiness skills as well as job placement. The Kerrville center has its own workforce-training programs. A campus radio station and student paper help to characterize student life at this Kerrville college.

Conlee's College of Cosmetology is Kerrville's own community college. The school offers in-depth training in cosmetology and esthetician-related fields, to prepare students for a license to practice as cosmetologists. Established in 1973, the school now offers coursework in manicuring, chemical hair relaxing and hairstyling, among other common salon skills. Students are eligible for financial aid.
