Houston Community College is located on Main Street in Houston and operates six campuses as well as a distance-education department. Located just 27 minutes from Houston is the Kingwood campus of Lonestar College. The Kingwood campus offers more than 50 areas of study, as of 2011. Students can earn an associate's of art or associate's of science degree. Credits from these degrees are transferable to a four-year institution to complete a bachelor's degree. Students must apply for an associate's degree after completing 60 hours of college level courses. Eighteen of those hours must be completed at a Lonestar College.
