Summer College Finance Programs

Summer programs provide an excellent way for finance majors to gain real-world experience that can give them a competitive advantage when launching their careers in the industry. Several leading corporate and financial institutions, including JP Morgan Chase, the Federal Reserve Bank and Time Inc., offer summer college finance programs.
  1. JP Morgan Chase Finance Summer Analyst Program

    • The 10-week Finance Summer Analyst Program, sponsored by JP Morgan Chase, offers college students the opportunity to be part of a finance team and gain exposure to various parts of the bank's finance division, including treasury, financial reporting and financial control. Summer analysts perform such tasks as preparing financial spreadsheets, making presentations to managers and assisting in financial operations. They are paired with junior and senior mentors and attend seminars led by JP Morgan Chase senior management.

      The Finance Summer Analyst program is open to rising juniors and seniors with a GPA of 3.2 or higher. Candidates should possess exceptional analytical, interpersonal and communication skills. Locations for the program include New York City; Jersey City, New Jersey; and Chicago

    Federal Reserve Bank of New York Summer Internship Program

    • Undergraduate finance majors can gain valuable work experience through the Federal Reserve Bank's paid summer internship program. Interns are assigned to a department, such as International Research, Financial Services and Bank Regulation, but do have the opportunity to collaborate on projects with interns in other departments.

      Interns work on projects such as writing reports, creating databases, and assisting economists with research. They also attend weekly seminars led by senior management and learn more about the careers available at the bank after graduation.

      The internship is available to college seniors with a strong academic record as well as excellent written communication and computer skills. Applicants must be able to interview in person at the Federal Reserve Bank in the spring. However, application materials should be submitted electronically.

    Time, Inc. Financial Summer Internship Program

    • For finance majors seeking experience outside of a banking environment, media and publishing company Time Inc., offers a ten-week Financial Summer Internship, which is a full-time, paid program. Interns work in branding, administrative and corporate finance groups, and complete a formal business plan which they present to Time Inc.'s finance staff.

      Time Inc. offers full-time opportunities to top interns after graduation. The Financial Summer Internship is for rising college seniors and applications should be submitted online. Students must include a cover letter and resume outlining their experience and background, such as quantitative and analytical ability, as well as advanced Excel skills.
