Enid, Oklahoma, has a population of nearly 50,000 residents. Due to its size, the town has become a center for education and home to a number of colleges, including both private and public institutions.
  1. Northern Oklahoma College

    • Northern Oklahoma College is a public, two-year institution with three branches, including one in Enid. Associate's degrees are offered in biological sciences, child development and nursing. Many programs feature opportunities for cooperative internships, which allow students to work in a paying-job related to their field while working on their degrees. The Enid campus is also home to the college's bridge program, which allows students to enroll concurrently at Northwestern Oklahoma University. This program is designed to allow students to complete their general education requirements at the community college level, while having access to the wide variety of majors found at the university. Oklahoma residents received reduced rates of tuition. The Enid branch sponsors basketball, volleyball, baseball and cheerleading teams.

    Enid Beauty College

    • Carrying the accreditation of the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences and the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology, Enid Beauty College is a private college that has trained hair stylists since 1964. The college's program provides training in hair cutting, hair coloring, hair texturizing, nail technology, skin care, make-up artistry, business management and entrepreneurship. Day and evening classes are available, and students receive hands-on training working in the college's on-site salon. Eligible students can participate in federal grant and loan programs as well as private lending programs through the college.

    Northwestern State Oklahoma University

    • Established in 1897, Northwestern State Oklahoma University is a public institution with a branch campus in Enid. Catering to working adults, the college's baccalaureate programs are offered during the day and evening and include bachelor's degrees in accounting, business administration, computer science, E-commerce, education, history, nursing, political science, psychology, social work, sociology and technical management. At the graduate level, the college grants master's degrees in education and counseling psychology. For-credit, unpaid internships are available in many majors, and students at the Enid campus can participate in the university's annual study-abroad program. Students who wish to participate in the one of the university's 10 intercollegiate or 16 intramural sports teams can do so through the Alva branch or may choose to join one of the school's more than 39 student groups.
