King's College is a small Catholic liberal arts college founded in 1946 by the Congregation of Holy Cross from the University of Notre Dame. Offering more than 42 undergraduate and preprofessional majors, the college is known for its small class size and a faculty Ph.D. accreditation rate of more than 80 percent. In addition, the college boasts a job placement rate of 99 percent. More than 95 percent of its 2,200 undergraduate and graduate students receive financial assistance. The Luzerne County Community College is a public, two-year community college. The main campus is located about 7.5 miles from the center of Wilkes-Barre in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. Opened in 1967, the college has 11 satellite locations that, together with the main campus, are home to more than 6,500 part-time and full-time students. The college offers more than 105 occupational and liberal arts programs and boasts a student to teacher ratio of 18-to-1. The main campus and its satellite campuses are commuter-based and do not offer on-campus housing. More than 62 percent of the college's student body receives financial assistance.
