Franklin & Marshall College (F&M) is a school located in downtown Lancaster, Pennsylvania and has been around since 1787. F&M ""enrolls 2,200 students" and "the average class size is 19 students." Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology is owned by the state of Pennsylvania. This college's mission is geared to the "development of Pennsylvania's technical workforce." Programs of study include automotive technology, business administration, electrical technology and masonry construction technology. This college not only offers various degree programs, but also offers nine-month certificate programs in the areas of construction electrician and general machine. Pennsylvania College of Art & Design (PCA&D) focuses on the fine arts and is well known for offering many degree programs to aspiring artists. This school is located in the city of Lancaster. It offers four-year bachelor's degrees to its students. In 2010, PCA&D opened a Design Center that focuses on the teachings of graphic design, photography and other areas of the arts in one central location. Albright College has a branch campus in Lancaster that focuses on accelerated degree programs. The main Albright College campus is located in Reading, Pennsylvania. Albright College--Lancaster offers courses that are shorter in length when compared to that of a typical semester in a traditional college schedule. These courses are one night a week and run for seven weeks total. This flexibility allows for people in certain situations to still accumulate credits towards completion of a degree program. Some courses offered include film and literature, Latin American studies and American Revolution.

Central Penn has a branch campus located in Lancaster. This school is a smaller facility compared to the Central Pennsylvania College located in Summerdale, Pennsylvania. It offers four programs that result in a bachelor's degree and two that result in an associate's degree, plus other certificate programs. These programs include accounting, business administration, criminal justice administration and information technology. This campus is geared towards those students who prefer a business-office-type setting over the traditional college-campus atmosphere.
