Located in Laplume, Keystone College is a private four-year college less than 20 minutes from Lackawanna State Park. When it was founded in 1868, Keystone was the only high school between Scranton, Pennsylvania, and Binghamton, New York. Keystone did not become a college until 1934. Keystone offers bachelor's and associate's degrees. Some of the college's bachelor's degrees include communication arts & humanities, visual art and psychology.
Johnson College is in northern Scranton, right off the Main Avenue exit on Interstate 81. This small college is private and offers two-year associate's degrees. The school was founded in 1918 as Johnson Technical Institute. Associate's degrees include technology -- biomedical equipment technology and precision machining technology -- and health services -- veterinary technology and radiologic technology. The college's athletic teams compete in the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference.
