Colleges in Northeast Georgia

Northeast Georgia is well known for its many natural attractions and outdoor recreation areas, and is home to portions of the Great Smokey Mountains, the Chattahoochee National Forest and Lake Lanier, which hosted several events in the 1996 Summer Olympics. Nestled in the woodlands of northeast Georgia near the borders of North and South Carolina, are a small cluster of public, private and Christian Bible colleges and universities.
  1. Toccoa Falls College

    • Toccoa Falls College (TFC), a private Christian college is located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in Toccoa Falls, 95 miles north of Atlanta. The town and college are named after the 186-foot high waterfall on campus. The college offers three schools of study: arts and sciences, Christian ministries, and professional studies. These schools combine to offer a total of 27 majors and 42 minors. TFC sponsors five men's and four women's intercollegiate varsity sports teams as well as seven men's, women's and co-ed intramural leagues. TFC athletics programs are affiliated with the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), Division II and compete against other Christian and Bible colleges.

    North Georgia College & State University

    • North Georgia College & State University is located in Dahlonega, the site of the first United States gold rush. The 630-acre campus is approximately one hour north of Atlanta in the mountains of northern Georgia. The school offers majors in more than 50 different subjects. NGCSU has been designated as the Military College of Georgia. Of the university's roughly 5,500 undergraduate students, 13 percent are enrolled in the Army ROTC program. NGCSU sponsors eight men's and eight women's intercollegiate varsity sports. They are affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II. The university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

    North Georgia Technical College

    • North Georgia Technical College is a public, two-year institution with several campus locations. The main 330-acre campus is located in Clarkesville, approximately 90 miles northeast of Atlanta. Other campuses are located in the northern Georgia towns of Blairsville and Currahee. The school offers 14 associate of applied science degrees in addition to technical certificates of credit. Associates degrees are awarded in a diverse area of studies including accounting, business technology, culinary arts, photography and turf and golf course management. The Clarkesville campus contains several recreational facilities including a swimming pool, gymnasium and tennis courts. Student activities include intramural sports, wellness programs and field trips throughout the year. On campus co-ed dormitory housing is available at the Clarkesville campus and features cable television, laundry facilities, wireless Internet access and meal plans for the campus dining hall. North Georgia Technical College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
