Polysomnography Technologist Certificate College Programs

Polysomnography technologists, or sleep technologists, are trained to directly observe patients in sleep laboratories and to monitor equipment used for diagnosing sleep disorders like insomnia, narcolepsy and restless leg syndrome. Patients are hooked up to EEGs to examine brainwave patterns while they sleep. Other devices like Continuous Positive Airway Pressure machines (CPAPs), monitor whether sleeping patients suffer from sleep apnea, or lack of breathing, while under study. Many colleges offer certifications in sleep technology.
