    Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center

    • Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center, located in Altoona, offers a 12-month, full-time LPN program. Classes start and end annually in August. Students learn about pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, pediatric nursing and gerontological nursing. To be considered for admission to the program, students must submit to a drug test and background check, possess a high school diploma or GED and provide proof of current immunizations. Students are required to maintain current CPR for the health care provider certification while they are attending classes. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the licensing exam for LPNs and can take advantage of the school's free career placement services.

    • Located in Sanbury, Central Susquehanna LPN Career Center offers a full-time, 12-month LPN program starting annually in August. Students choose from two tracks. The first track has students completing all of their coursework at the career center. The second track allows students to take only the nursing courses at the career center and remaining courses at a local community college. Areas of study include anatomy and physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, adult health nursing, maternal nursing, acute care and pediatric nursing. To be considered for admission, students must have earned a high school diploma or GED and score in the 25th percentile or higher on an admissions exam.
