Laboratory Technician Colleges

Medical laboratory technicians are health-care professionals who perform tests on blood and other biological specimens. Two-year community colleges and technical schools often offer associate's degree laboratory technician programs, training students to work in the field through clinical applications, theory and laboratory work. Curricula commonly include courses such as Medical Terminology, Hematology and Immunology, and program requirements can be completed in less than two years.

    • Victoria College is a two-year community college in the small southeastern Texas city of Victoria. Established in 1925, it has more than 4,000 students in associate's degree, certificate and transfer programs on its commuter campus. Victoria’s academic catalog includes allied health field programs such as Emergency Medical Services, Pre-Pharmacy and Nursing. Victoria College also has an Associate in Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technology. Students matriculated into the program take courses such as Microbiology, Phlebotomy and Coagulation as part of the program’s curriculum. Medical laboratory technology students can complete program requirements within two years.

    Kellogg Community College

    • Founded in 1956, Kellogg Community College is a two-year community college in the suburban southern Michigan city of Battle Creek. Students can choose among associate's degree and certificate programs in a range of areas, including education, business and law enforcement. Kellogg’s Associate in Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technology is within the college’s Health Science division. The two-year program’s curriculum includes relevant science courses, as well as general education coursework in English and history. Kellogg medical laboratory technology students take professional courses such as Hematology, Clinical Chemistry and Introduction to Medical Microbiology.

    SUNY Orange

    • Founded in 1950, SUNY Orange is a community college that is part of the State University of New York system of colleges and universities. The college is in the suburban southeastern city of Middletown. SUNY Orange offers an Associate in Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technology within the Department of Laboratory Technology. The program’s four-semester curriculum includes courses such as Immunology and Fundamentals of Medical Physiology, as well as general education course requirements set by the college. Students also complete clinical training.
