Located in Kentucky's second-largest city of Lexington, Bluegrass Community and Technical College is part of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. The two-year college features an associate degree and a certificate program in dental laboratory technology. Since 1965, the associate degree program has trained graduates for careers at dental laboratories and in dental sales, as well as for further study in related dental fields. The two-year curriculum includes courses in fixed prosthodontics, dental morphology and occlusion, in addition to general education classes in writing and mathematics. Alternatively, students can complete the college's dental laboratory technology certificate program in one year with a much more intensive course schedule.

Established in 1929, Los Angeles City College carries accreditation from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges. The school's health care division features two programs in dental laboratory technology. The two-year dental technology associate degree program includes courses in dental anatomy and terminology. Students can advance their studies in the field through course work at nearby University of California at Los Angeles, which offers a master ceramist program or an advanced prosthodontics, implants and maxilofacial program. Los Angeles City College also provides a shorter certificate program in dental technology that covers much of the same curriculum as the associate degree program.
