Located in northeastern Mississippi, Mississippi State University was founded in 1878. The school's cooperative education program offers a PGA accredited Professional Golf Management Program. The program is the second oldest program, started by the PGA in 1985. To enter the program, students must meet the PGA handicap requirement of 12 or lower. After completing the 4.5 year PGM program, students will receive a Bachelor's degree of Business Administration in Marketing. Students will complete courses in turf management, landscape architecture, food management, golf course design and human resources. In addition to courses, students will complete five semesters worth of related work experience. Students will also participate in PGA seminars in Business and Staff Management and Teaching Golf, according to Mississippi State University.

New Mexico State University is in southern New Mexico, and it offers a Professional Golf Management program through its College of Business. New Mexico State University's PGM program was the third in the nation to be started by the PGA in 1987. To be eligible for the program, students must be accepted by the university and meet the program requirements of a 2.5 GPA and a golf handicap index of 8.0 or lower. NMSU is one of a few universities to have its own golf course. The 18-hole course has held many NCAA championships and USGA and Section PGA championships. The PGM program is completed in 4.5 years and offers students a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Marketing with a specialization in Golf Management.

Penn State University's University Park campus, located in central Pennsylvania, is home to more than 38,000 undergraduate students. The Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Management offers students a PGA accredited Professional Golf Management program. To gain entrance into the program, students must meet University and Department of Recreation requirements, as well as have a golf handicap of 12 or lower. Students will complete five internships and required courses such as Turf Grass Management, Problems of Small Business, Rules of Golf and Golf Club Design and Repair. Upon completion, students will receive a Bachelor of Science in Recreation, Park and Tourism Management with an option in Golf Management, according to Penn State. To become a PGA member upon graduation, students must pass the Playing Ability Test, a 36-hole event, with a score of 159.
