Division I Golf Schools

For students competitive about their golf game, schools offer divisional status teams (which are different from club or intramural sports) rated and ranked by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). There are 289 Division I colleges that offer men's golf scholarships and 217 division I women's golf programs. The NCAA allows each Div. I men's golf program 4.5 scholarships and each women's Div. I program 6 scholarships .
  1. University of California Los Angeles

    • The University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) offers a 3,000 square foot putting green, 3,000 square foot tee box, club repair area, practice facility and golf exercise equipment. The school also offers a competitive women's golf team and membership in the UCLA Golf Association, which is open to any student enrolled at the school.

      UCLA students have the opportunity to earn bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees, including African studies, English as a second language, ethnomusicology, oral biology, dance, molecular toxicology, moving image archive studies, geophysics and space physics, East Asian studies, marine biology and French and linguistics.

    Kent State University

    • Kent State's men's golf team plays in the Division 1, training on a 10,000 square foot putting green, 350-yard practice range, four target greens, bunkers and swales, short game practice area, practice fairways and Astroturf tees areas. Golfers may also take advantage of heated hitting bays, a 3,000 square foot chipping area, video room with swing analysis and separate study areas. Kent State also offers a women's golf team.

      Golfers heading to Kent State may choose from over 250 bachelor's degrees, 50 graduate programs and two-year associate degrees, offered at the university's nine campuses. Majors include anthropology, American Sign Language, business, exercise science, fashion design, fine arts, botany, chemistry, biotechnology and aeronautics.

    Vanderbilt University

    • Vanderbilt University offers both men's and women's Division I golf teams, who make their home at the Conner Short Game Practice Facility and Vanderbilt Legends Club. The school offers three greens, five bunkers and a 130-yard practice hole. The Legends Club offers 36 holes of golf with two courses, one par 72 and one par 71. The club states that out of its 520 members, more than 200 claim a handicap of 10 or less.

      When students aren't taking swings, chipping or putting, they're at work in bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs in fields such as ancient Mediterranean studies, creative writing, computer science, divinity, economics, public health, secondary education, Portuguese, general psychology and special education.
