Oncologist Programs

Oncology is a sector of medicine that involves the diagnosis of cancer as well as various modalities of therapy.     Wake Forest University

    • Wake Forest University is a private four-year university in the North Carolina city of Winston-Salem. Founded in 1834, today the university hosts nearly 40 undergraduate and graduate academic departments in areas ranging from anthropology to women’s and gender studies. Students interested in pursuing studies in oncology can matriculate into Wake Forest’s PhD in Cancer Biology, housed within the university’s School of Medicine. An interdisciplinary cancer research program, the four-year program’s curriculum consists of seminars, laboratory rotations and extensive research, in addition to lecture courses like Carcinogenesis, DNA Damage & Repair and Advanced Topics in Cancer Biology. Additionally, Wake Forest’s School of Medicine features postdoctoral training in cancer biology for advanced education in the field.

    Purdue University

    • Established in 1869, Purdue University is a public four-year university with a flagship campus in the suburban Indiana city of West Lafayette and regional campuses throughout the state. Today students can choose among more than 200 undergraduate and graduate academic program options at the university. Purdue offers an opportunity for specialized study in oncology with their School of Nursing. The Graduate Certificate in Advanced Practice Oncology program is designed for students who possess a master’s in nursing degree. The program’s curriculum includes courses such as Acute Oncology Illness and Pharmacology for Advance Practice Oncology Certificate, and can be completed in less than four semesters.
