RN to NP Programs

Though their roles are similar, registered nurses (RN) and nurse practitioners (NP) differ slightly in their job requirements and related tasks. Nurse practitioners can prescribe medication, may diagnose patients and carry out many of the same duties and tasks as a physician. Nurse practitioners must have additional training and education, leading to a master's degree.
  1. Thomas Jefferson University

    • Located in Philadelphia, the Jefferson School of Nursing offers an RN to MSN program. If you have an associate degree in nursing and need to bridge your degree before acquiring a master's degree, the program also offers an RN to BSN to MSN option, which qualifies students for admittance to the master's program. The Master of Science in Nursing curriculum focuses on research, roles of the advanced practice nurse and epidemiology, with a nurse practitioner focus on acute care, adult health, family or neonatal nurse practice, adult oncology, pediatrics or women's health.
