The University of Texas Health and Science Center Houston is a part of the Texas public university system and is located in the biggest city in Texas. UTHSC offers fully accredited accelerated bachelor's degree programs for students with a bachelor's degree in another field and licensed registered nurses. Both programs are three semesters and take about one year to complete. Graduates are awarded a bachelor's degree in nursing. The classes vary between the programs. The second degree option coursework includes gerontologic nursing, community health nursing practice, pathophysiology and pharmacotherapeutics. Some of the classes RNs take include health assessment for RNs, community health practice for RNs, synthesis for RNs and role transition for RNs.
