Small Canadian Colleges

Canada has many small colleges and universities. There are private schools, public universities, art and design schools, and religious universities. It is important to research the schools you are interested in and visit campuses if possible. Several smaller Canadian colleges partner with larger research universities to allow students a larger variety of classes.
  1. Brescia University College

    • With about one thousand students, Brescia University College is the only women's university in Canada.

      The school is affiliated with The University of Western Ontario. Small class sizes allow students to receive instruction in liberal arts, nutrition, and food science and technology. Financial aid and scholarships are available.

    Nova Scotia College of Art and Design

    • The Nova Scotia College of Art and Design has approximately 800 students and is one of Canada's oldest institutions. The school has three campuses. Highlighted programs include film, product design, ceramics, sculpture and drawing. Both undergraduate and graduate programs are available at the school. The university offers a number of scholarships for students.

    St. Thomas University

    • St. Thomas University in New Brunswick is a small liberal arts college with courses in philosophy, journalism, criminology, education, social work and native studies.

      With 2,300 students, St. Thomas University is able to offer several scholarships and other financial aid options.

    Luther College

    • Luther College is a private school run by the Evangelical Lutheran Church. The school offers programs in fine arts, liberal arts and sciences. Luther College partners with the University of Regina to give students additional study opportunities. The college, with approximately 500 students, is located in Regina, Saskatchewan, and scholarships are available.

    Trinity Western University

    • Trinity Western University is a Christian liberal arts college, with 1,700 students, in Vancouver, B.C. The school offers undergraduate and graduate programs in such fields as nursing, theology and business administration. Research opportunities are available through partnerships with the Septuagint Institute, Dead Sea Scrolls Institute and Gender Studies Institute. Financial aid is available.
