South Carolina Colleges

As the Commission on Higher Education in South Carolina explains, the state spends more than 13 percent of its budget funding higher education, which supports high-quality colleges and universities. In addition to the public institutions that receive this funding, South Carolina has numerous private institutions of note.
  1. Two-Year Institutions

    • As the South Carolina Information Highway explains, the state has several two-year institutions including Central Carolina Technical College, Clinton Junior College, Greenville Technical College, Northeastern Technical College, Remington College and Spartanburg Methodist College. Most two-year institutions in South Carolina are public, although a few, including Spartanburg Methodist College, are private.

      In addition, the Charleston, Columbia and Greenville campuses of Virginia College and the Lancaster, Salkehatchie, Sumter and Union campuses of the University of South Carolina are two-year colleges.

    Public Four-Year Institutions

    Seminaries

    • The state of South Carolina has several seminaries, or theological schools. Among these are Christ Central Institute, Columbia International University Seminary, Erskine Theological Seminary and Holmes Bible College.

      Other seminaries in South Carolina are Cathedral Bible College, Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary and St Anselm Seminary.
