Furman University is located five miles from downtown Greenville on Poinsett Highway. Bob Jones University is located less than five miles northeast of Greenville Downtown Airport on Wade Hampton Boulevard. The university is a Christian liberal arts university that offers over 60 degree options. The school's philosophy is to teach students not only how to earn a living, but also how to live and develop a Christlike character. The campus is over 205 acres including 10 residence halls wired with Internet access, a 7,000-seat amphitorium, a 2,600-seat auditorium, a museum and gallery and a 3,300-seat dining hall. The university offers both undergraduate and graduate programs ranging in areas such as accounting, aircraft maintenance, Biblical counseling and business administration to chemistry, cinema production, cosmetology, education and premed. As of the 2010-2011 academic year at BJU, the cost of tuition including room and board and fees for all full-time students was $8,815 per semester.

Greenville Technical College is a two-year college with four campuses: Barton, Brashier, Greer and Northwest. Barton is the main campus located on South Pleasantburg Drive in Greenville. While at Greenville Tech, students can either work towards an associate, diploma or certificate in a wide variety of areas such as business, paralegal studies, dental hygiene, occupational therapy, electronics engineering, fire science and geomatics technology. As of the 2010-2011 academic year, full-time Greenville County resident students paid tuition and fees in the amount of $1,808 per semester. Full-time South Carolina resident students from outside Greenville County paid tuition and fees in the amount of $1,956 per semester. Full-time students from out-of-state paid tuition and fees in the amount of $3,686 per semester. Students attending Greenville Technical College may find taking their basic courses at the school is more cost-efficient than beginning their college studies at a four-year university.
