Students interested in colleges that require a commitment to the Christian ethic as part of their curriculum have several options in North Carolina. As a state located in the southeast part of the United States where religion is deeply ingrained in the social atmosphere, North Carolina offers college students a post-secondary education that includes biblical studies and missionary opportunities within the United States and internationally.

    • Gardner-Webb is a private southern Baptist-affiliated Christian university. According to the school's mission statement, the university is focused on higher education that is integrated with Christian life and teachings. Programs that are part of the required curriculum linking the Christian beliefs with education are Dimensions, Campus Ministries United and various mission trips. Dimensions programs, held weekly on campus, are a lecture-style ministry that must be attended for a minimum of six semesters before graduation is permitted. Campus Ministries United and mission trips offered through the college are Christian-related social organizations that students are encouraged to join.

    Carolina Christian College

    • Established in 1945, Carolina Christian College (CCC) is a private institution affiliated with Churches of Christ. The mission statement for the college explains that they are focused on preparing people for religious ministry in the real world setting. CCC is accredited with the Association for Biblical Higher Education. Students attending CCC are studying to earn a Bachelor of Arts in ministry with a minor focus of Biblical languages, Christian education, pastoral ministry or urban ministry. CCC also offers an associate degree in ministry for students to train in ministry and Biblical studies. The Foreign Student Program allows students from other countries to study about Christian ministry for preparation in mission work.

    Mid-Atlantic Christian University

    • Mid-Atlantic Christian University (MACU), located in Elizabeth City, offers degrees to students interested in focusing on Christian ministry. Founded in 1948, MACU was previously named Roanoke Bible College. While its mission did not change, the college became interested in reaching a global community; so in 2009, the college became MACU. Programs of study at MACU include counseling and psychology with a Biblical studies background, cross-cultural ministry, missions aviation, and youth and family ministry. Students can also earn a Bachelor of Theology, a Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies, or a certificate in Biblical studies from MACU.
