Eastern Community Colleges

Community colleges offer students access to associate degrees and professional certificate programs at a lower cost than most traditional four year universities. Many students enroll to either begin their college careers with the intention of transferring to four-year institutions, or older adults seeking additional job training or initial training in other fields because of a career changes. There are over 1,000 community colleges in the United States with more than 500 on the eastern seaboard.
  1. Adirondack Community College

    • Adirondack Community College located in Queensbury, New York was founded in 1961 and currently offers degree and certificate programs to an enrollment of approximately 2,000 students annually. The college is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary schools. The college currently has agreements with over 25 four-year colleges and universities to allow automatic acceptance to Adirondack graduates into four-year degree programs. A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma are required for acceptance.

    Bladen Community College

    • Bladen Community College located in Dublin, North Carolina offers degree and certificate programs through the Dublin campus, an education center in East Arcadia, as well as distance education through online courses. The college states they have an "open door"" admissions policy, allowing non-degree seeking students to enroll, but requiring a high school diploma, general equivalency diploma for admission to degree or certificate programs. Tuition at Bladen Community College is $56.50 per credit hour for North Carolina residents. Out of state students are charged a tuition rate of $248.50 per credit hour, not to exceed $3,976.00 per semester.

    Cumberland County College

    • Located in Vineland, New Jersey, Cumberland County College was established in 1966 and has grown to offer more than 90 career and associate degree programs. The college has an average enrollment of approximately 4,000 students annually, with over 50 percent continuing their education at a four year institution. Available programs include accounting, communications, computer science and justice studies. The college is accredited by the Middle States Commissions on Higher Education, with additional accreditation for individual degree and certificate programs.

    Three Rivers Community College

    • Established in 1992, Three Rivers Community College in Norwich, enrolls approximately 4,000 students each semester in southeastern Connecticut. The college academic departments include business, English, humanities, math, sciences, nursing, social science and technology. The college has an open admissions policy, though admissions does not guarantee acceptance into all degree or certificate programs without additional admissions requirements of individual programs. Early admission can be offered to select high school students through the College Career Pathways Program or the High School Partnership Program.
